Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Authorities mentioned they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
